The podium parties at the 12 Hours of Santos

2011 12 Hours of Santos - Vortex area of the Santos Trails, Ocala, Fl 2-19-2011: The weather and conditions could not have been better for the annual solo and team competition on the popular greenways trail system.  Temperatures were in the 50's at night and low 80's during the day and a full moon to boot.  The 9 mile loop was reversed from previous years and was met with much approval from the racers.  Many states were represented in the event with some riders driving down from Pennsylvania and Michigan (undoubtly to avoid harsh winter they have been having).  Many thanks to all of the OMBA volunteers and sponsors that helped make the race a success, especially Giant Bicycles & Michelob Ultra.  The top 12 hour male solo rider on the day was Drew Edsall and the top 12 hour female rider was Sandra Tomlinson.

Below are some important statistics you can use in your correspondence.

With an estimated $3.5Billion budget shortfall this fiscal year, now more than ever, we need our voices heard! The new Governor has stressed that economic development and tourism are two of his top priorities, and visitors to State Parks and Greenways are great examples of tourists spending money!

Do your part to help preserve some of the best trails in the State of Florida!

For the trails,
Rob Ern, VP

The Base 40-49 group leaves the line at Markham

Cannondale Coconut Cup #5 - Markham Park, Sunrise, Fl 1-30-2011: A day like this is why we live in Florida, sunny and 70 degrees in the middle of winter!  The mountain bike patrol had the 6.5 mile trail in prime condition in what many reguard as the toughest trail on the circuit.  On Saturday two short track races were held for bonus points, top racer from the white wave was Mike Unklesbay and top yellow wave short track racer was Allison Anjos.  Many thanks to all of the volunteers and to the park management for the continued improvements.  Thanks as well to all of the sponsors that make the series possible. The top rider on the day was Allison Anjos and top female was Carolyn VanVurst. The next and final race in the series will be at Oleta River State park in North Miami.  Congratulations to all!
