Jessica Nankman on her way to winning the 12 hour Female solo title

2-17-2018 - FLE #4 - 12 Hours of Santos, Vortex Trails - Ocala, Fl

It doesn't get any better than this anywhere in the country, a perfect weather weekend for the 10th annual 12 hours of Santos (although it's roots go back to 1996 at the 12 hours of Hardrock). The day started off with a mass Leman's style start at 10am and the racers hit the vortex trails for a 6 mile parade lap before heading out to complete their first full 8 mile lap. The layout this year was very challenging as the racers had to navigate the "red" trails first and then got a break for the last 5 miles or so by riding the "blue" trails before the finish.

The racing action was very competitive as always with Ben Kelly winning the 3 hour male solo class and Caroyln Maddox doing the same in the Female 3 hour. While Evan Evans took the 3 hour Clydesdale and Ian Kelbert won the Juniors 3 hour. The six hour men's shootout was taken by multi time motorcycle champion Charlie Mullins and Amy Horstmeyer took home the Female class win. Amatuer 6 hour winner was Mikhael Ponso and 45+ male winner was Ivar Kozeja. In the long distance categories Gear Racing won the "Over 140 year" class and Ant and beanstocks won the "Under 140 year" team classes. Brick City Super Speedy Sasquaches took the Sport team titile and amassed 19 laps in the process. Team My momma thinks I am fast was the proud winner of the Co-Ed division. In the 2 person class it was team Down to Ride consisting of Eric Post and Sterling Ferris while amatuer 12 hour solo winner Joe Warton walked away with the win but the big winners of the Solo classes were Jessica Nankman with 14 laps to her claim and of course multi time winner of this event Bob McCarty with the solo Men's win and 18 laps.

Many thanks to all of the riders, sponsors and volunteers that made it happen and thanks to Club OMBA for building and maintaing this great trail system.

Ayala & Danish battle for the 30 mile win at Ameila

2-4-2018 - FLE #3 - Amelia 30/60 mile, Amelia Earhart Trails - Hialeah, Fl

A perfect day with partly cloudy and mild temperatures greeted the racers at one of South Florida's most popular trails and the course conditions were in tip top shape thanks to mother nature (a rain the day before) and the amazing Amelia trail crew. The event started at 9am with a split start between the 30 milers and the 60's and early on the leaders formed a tight pack with Marcos Rodriguez coming in the fastest on lap one. The pace didn't let up as the 60 leaders began to merge into the action making for some great racing all day. The course was set up for 6 miles per lap making he math easy as all the 30 milers had to do was focus on 5 laps and the hard core 60's on 10.

Mike Danish was the top 30 miler and Megan Duncanson was the top 30 mile female while Steve Larue was the fastest clydesdale and Kaue King found himself the winner of the junior 30 mile class. Damian Serrania and Jose Luis Garcel topped the two person open teams while the two person co-ed team was won by Darren and Sandra Venditti. The 60 mile class was headed up by Jordan Swingle in the open class and Maricio Andino topped the amateur class. Jorge Francisco was the winner in the 45+ group and Tara Pizza was the female 60 mile solo winner. Many thanks to all the sponsors and again to the Amelia trail crew!
