Georgia State Championship series #5 + Short Track – Allatoona Creek trails – Acworth, Ga

Normally this round is met with heat and humidity but this year we had very mild conditions, overcast and perfect trail traction. The weekend started off with a bonus short track on Saturday ran on the same 1.5 mile loop as the kids would race the next day and was a mix of open fields and some tight single track, while Sunday’s XC race was a six mile lap that had some mild climbing and lot’s of turns, finishing with a sprint to the line.

Benjamin Fountain won a close battle in the yellow wave short track (four laps) by just about a second to spare while Amy Talbot claimed the women’s win. In the white wave (three laps) it was Nathan Grund topping the wave while Isabelle Sachse taking the women’s white wave honors.

Both Benjamin Fountain and Amy Talbot took care of business again on Sunday by winning their respective XC classes making it a perfect two for two on the weekend.

Next round will be at Georgia International Horse Park trails (site of the first ever mountain bike Olympics in Conyers on May 28th, be there!
