Georgia State Championship series #7 – Brown’s Mill Battlefield park – Newnan, Ga
Well no two ways around it… It was HOT! The muggy summer heat that Georgia is know for was on full display over the weekend, with even a little shower to pump up the humidity on Saturday before the start of the Time Trial. However the trails were in good shape and even great shape by race time on Sunday. The Time Trial was won by Dustin White with a 15.3 mph average on the 7 mile fun filled course and a time of 27:27:04 with slightly slick conditions.
Luke Harris came out on top of a very competitive elite men’s field (saving his best lap time for the end with a 26:51:54) that saw a lead group of five or six battle throughout most of the race but on the last lap things broke apart and then it was every man for himself. Olivia Esposito was the fastest of the females on the day.
The series overall awards were held at the race site and along with celebrating all of the champions and podium finishes there were three special awards handed out. Daniel Johns most improved Junior, Rebecca Sterner most improved female and Eric Hunner most improved rider. Congrats to all!
