Florida State Championship series #7 – Caloosahatchee Trails – Alva, Fl
It was a nice to arrive in SW Florida and find cool temperatures and a dry and well groomed race course considering all of storms of late. The 11 mile trail was in primo shape and smoking fast and is one of the trail systems where we use a split course (long and short loop) to get the right mix of distance for the variety of classes. Many thanks to the Mudcutters club and to the Lee County park crew for all of their hard work in recovering the trails from the long stretch of wet and wild weather.
Ryan Woodall has been on a roll of late and can now count three in a row with his win at Alva, which is tightening up the elite men’s points picture with only a few more points up for grabs. Angel Rodriguez also had a strong ride and he will continue to wear the Ways leaders jersey along with Yerany Morejon Gonzalez in the women’s expert class.
Team “Bike Parlor / MRI imaging specialist” also continues to hold the team championship but with only a 4 point lead leading up to the make up and drop points that lay ahead. The Mudder Ducker $50 fast lap award went to Ryan Woodall in expert 19-39 class.
The E MTB series saw another close race and the expert winner this round was Tim Zimmerman.
It is hard to believe the series is winding down with only the Coconut Cup make ups in Hialeah and the final in Ocala remaining. Next event at Amelia Earhart park in Hialeah is 12-7/8-24 (FSC make up race for both the TT and XC).
