FLE SERIES WRAP UP AT SANTOS

FLORIDA ENDURANCE SERIES #7 – SANTOS CLASSIC – GREENWAY TRAILS – OCALA, FL The drought was broken this week in Central Florida and with the coming rainy season comes the heat and humidity and there was plenty of it on hand for final round of the FLE series. The trail was in great shape for the 9am start as the racers filed out to course to face either four laps (sprint classes) or eight laps (marathon classes) of an 8 mile loop which included the infamous “sink hole” trail right off the bat. This 1.5 mile section is filled with […]

BEATA WRONSKA TAKES A WIN AT THE BUMP

Georgia State Championship  Make up + Bump N Grind – Oak Mountain State park – Pelham, Al A cold front moved in on Memorial weekend in Alabama bringing the temps down to the fifties but then warming up nicely during the day, not what most were expecting but a welcome change. A nice turnout also for this annual event which had kids races, downhill and even unicycle races on Saturday. Sunday’s action was hot and heavy with the cool temps and maximum traction provided by the Friday rain. In the men’s top class it was Jerry Dufour with the win and in

ASSALT ON ACWORTH

Georgia State Championship  #5 + GSC Short Track – Allatoona Creek park – Acworth, Ga The 5th round of the GSC took place in Acworth just North of Atlanta and featured not only a challenging XC course but an equally challenging short track bonus race on Saturday. The weather was what I would call pre-summer, temps around 90 but low humdity and dry, pretty nice conditions for mtb racing in Georgia. Saturdays short track featured a nice layout of about 50% single track and 50% open trail and say some super close racing that went down to the wire. It was Douglas

Florida Endurance series #6 – Markham Woods Masher – Markham Woods Trails – Lake Mary, Fl A nice cool front moved in just in time to give the inagrual race at this park some needed rain and low humidity. The 10 mile course was uniquely designed for the event by the SORBA Orlando club and featured a mix of single track and some double track forest roads. The club did an outstading job with the event, thanks to the many that helped out! Bob McCarty took his 4th win in the marathon class while Kelly Lalima claimed her second win. In the Sprint class it was Keith

JUNIOR 2’S HIT THE TRAIL AT DAUSET

South Eastern Regional Championship / Georgia State Championship  #4 – Dauset Nature Park – Jackson, Ga Absolutely perfect race conditions at Dauset Trails in Jackson for the fourth round of the series, a 7 mile loop with some new fast features dropped the lap times into the 27 minute range for some of the fast folks. Saturdays time trial was won by Woodson Terry and Simone Berger (male and female respectively) and Sunday’s race was a mirror image as both also topped their cross country rivals in the expert classes. Jesus Martinez now holds the SERC leaders jersey and Simone Berger also got her new jersey for her efforts.

JUNIOR WOMEN TAKE THE STAND AT FT YARGO

South Eastern Regional Championship / Georgia State Championship  #3 – Ft Yargo State Park – Winder, Ga Well this is becoming a pattern, rain on Saturday and good conditions on Sunday. The forcast was for the wet stuff to fall on Saturday and clear up on Sunday and it did but it also made a for great trail conditions for the racers. The course was set at 11 miles this year with the bypass of the infamous “monster mile” section and replaced with the “three step” section and the fastest lap of the day was set by Douglas Gambarota at 41:21.

VELO RACING AT THE VORTEX

Florida Endurance series #5 – Vortex – Santos Vortex trails – Ocala, Fl Ah springtime in Florida, which means mild temperatures, low humidity and an occational rain and that is exactly what happened at the fifth round of the FLE series. Fortunately the course was set up with rain in mind and we almost got away clean but somewhere during the second and third laps it came down and messed things up for a bit but by the end of race things shaped up nicely and the racers were handed great weather the rest of the day. The 7.8 mile

The 7 mile course dried up quick overnight and had the racers putting down some fast lap times right from the start and there was a strong mix of riders from all over the region especially in the cat 1 classes. It was Nick Mackie who stole the
