Specialized Florida State Championship series #5 + ST  – Loyce Harpe park – Lakeland, Fl Great weather and turnout for the fifth round  plus series short track and it was also a Coconut Cup make up, so a lot going on over the weekend in Lakeland. The Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Association had the 7.4 mile course in great shape even if it was a little dry (can’t control that) and the yellow wave and E mtb wave saw the addition of the “ Jerad’s revenge” section in just to spice things up a bit. There was close action both

10-22-23 – Florida State Championship series #4 – Vortex Trails – Ocala, Fl (Julio Gomez pictured) Humidity has left the house in Central Florida (at least for the weekend) and round four of the series was held under blue skies and dry conditions. A 6.5 mile combined a mix of rocky red trails in the first few miles followed by flowing fast single track the rest. Many thanks to the OMBA Ocala Mountain Bike Association for building and maintain the trail system. The elite men’s class saw multi time champ Ryan Woodall take a convincing win while Samatha Spiegelman claimed

Florida State Championship series #3 / Coconut Cup #1 + CC-Short Track – Dyer park – West Palm Beach, Fl – 10-7/8-23 The battle of Mt Dyer occurred over the weekend with racers from both the FSC and CC series clashing for the high ground in the two points series. The weeks leading up to the race saw lot’s of heavy rain and for many days the lower trails were literally flooded but thanks to the hard work of the FORCE bike club they did some major rerouting and pulled off a 6.2 mile course that of course incorporated the

Florida State Championship series #2 / EMTB #2 – Hanna park – Jacksonville, Fl This beach side trail was one of the FSC rounds way back in the inaugural season of 1993 and has always brought a competitive and unique flavor to the series, with its tight twisty trails and virtually flat terrain it is also one of the hardest to succeed at, to win at Hanna means you know how to handle a bike in the woods. This year the trails were in perhaps the best shape ever with some early week rains and the dedicated efforts of SORBA

Georgia State Championship series #8 + Time Trial #2 – Brown’s Mill trails – Newnan, Ga The 17th addition of the Georgia State Championship series ended with a picture perfect weekend in Newnan. The series featured three new locations this year and the final race was one of the them, the 7 mile course Brown’s Mill trail had a fast but challenging feel to it with lots of ups and downs and virtually no rest for the athletes. A rain on Thursday brought the trails just the moisture it needed for good traction on both days of racing. Saturday the

Florida Endurance series #7 – El Lagarto – Loyce Harpe park – Lakeland, Fl This race is normally held in January (when the alligators are kind of slow and lazy) but due to hurricane Ian the park where the trails are located (Loyce Harpe park) turned into a FEMA site for debris and all events were suspended. Long story short the annual El Lagarto was rescheduled for last race of the FLE series on June 4th but that’s not all, it was once more rescheduled to June 11th due to another change in the regional race calendar, so yes we

Georgia State Championship series #7 –Enterprise South trails – Chattanooga, Tn At the second to last round of the series, the racers crossed North nine miles into the state of Tennessee to do battle at one of the funnest courses on the circuit. The SORBA Chattanooga club does a great job stewarding the trail and the eight mile race loop features lot’s of ups and downs but for some reason seems to feel like there are more down hills than the climbing indicates. Racing was intense on the trails and had a little twist of drama in the men’s elite

Georgia State Championship series #6 – Georgia International Horse Park trails – Conyers, Ga Sweat shirt weather in the morning and t shirts in the afternoon, absolutely stellar conditions at the sixth round of the series at the famous Conyers course which was home to the first ever 1996 Olympic Games mountain bike event. The 7 mile course was in prime shape as well and features some smoking fast single track with a couple of tough climbs and rocking downhill’s. The competition was outstanding as well as Dustin White came away with the win in the men’s top class and
