Coconut Cup #5 – Virginia Key Park – Miami, Fl

Ahaaa Virginia Key Beach, Florida beautiful views and great weather, right!? Well kind of, it certainly looked attractive but the temps were in the 40’s as the sun rose over the bay which made for a chilly start to the day of racing. The Virginia Key mountain bike club was out however in the cold and had the 7 mile course running hot for the racers and the day actually did warm up nicely by mid afternoon to perfectly clear skies, ok so now we were back in South Florida!

Racing action was close quarters for many of the classes with some of the finishes only seconds apart while the top average speeds were in the 14 mph range. Top male racer on the day was Gilberto Arajuo and top female was Simone Berger.
