Coconut Cup series #4 + TT – Almelia Earhart Park – Hialeah, Fl
It was a busy weekend in South Florida for mtb racers as both the Coconut cup and the FSC series had lot’s of points up for grabs in Hialeah. The Saturday race was the CC series Time Trial and it can also be used as a make up for the FSC bonus rounds so that meant there were plenty of riders that made the trip down from North and Central Fl. Sunday’s XC was also paying points for both series so there was a lot on the line for both series racers and this trail is like most in that it favors the locals. The Amelia Trail Crew had the course set up for a 7.1 mile high intensity ride and it showed in the results with fast lap times and close racing. Many thanks to the vol’s!
Saturday the time trial kicked off at 3pm and Marco Carrie set an amazing time of 25:03 minutes for the full lap and then in the women’s it was Yerany Morejon Gonzalez claiming the fastest time. Sunday the day started in a typical South Florida way, sunny and mild and stayed that way all day. This time it was Yonathan Mejia claiming the top men’s spot and former champ Patricia Doring winning the women’s XC.
The CC series resumes in February in North Miami while the FSC series wraps up this weekend 12-14-25 in Ocala.
