Florida State Championship series #5 + Short Track + EMTB – Harpe park – Lakeland, Fl

Another great weather experience at round five of the FSC which was also a makeup race weekend for the Coconut Cup.  The Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Association or RRMBA was out in force and had prepped the 6.7 mile course to perfection despite the dry spell, many thanks to all that they do for the sport!

Saturday the series short track started at 3pm with the cat ½ men hitting the approximately one mile course and it was Yonathan Mejia winning by less than a second after a five lap 4 way battle for the lead. The winning female rider was points leader Darla Woodall with about a 13 second gap.

Sunday the sun rose at different time due to the end of daylight savings allowing the racers an extra hour of sleep and they would need it as the racing weekend was hotly contested. On this day Ryan Woodall racked up his fourth win in a row to establish a firm hold on the Neutral Support leaders jersey in the men’s elite class and Yerany Morejon Gonzalez took the win in the women’s top class while Darla Woodall was able to hold on to the leaders jersey despite a dnf on the day.

The E bike race saw a nice turnout of racers and they lit up the same 6.7 mile course as the analog bikes at 1:30pm, it was Rogerio Filho taking a narrow win in the men’s and Stephanie Lamer won the women’s E MTB.

The Florida Commercial Appliance (Z-Boys) $50 fast lap went to Yerany Morejon in the women’s expert class and Rogerio Filho claimed the $50 prize in the E MTB expert men’s. Team“Muddy Santos Shredders” continues to hold the team lead but the margin has narrowed to 7 points.

Next race is in Alachua on November 16th which is FSC #6.
