Florida State Championship series #8 – Santos Trails – Ocala, Fl

Picture perfect weekend for the last round of the series at the popular Santos trailhead, cool temps, great trail conditions and lot’s of uber prepared racers. Racing kicked off at 8:30am with the Shimano youth race and then the adults hit the 7.5 mile full course that started out fast and easy and ended with some technical, focus oriented trails. Many thanks as always to the OMBA club or all of their hard work building and maintaining the trail system!

Jack Mizzoni took the holeshot and thewin in the elite men’s and Patricia Doring claimed the top of the box with the women’s cat 1 win and sealed her series title. Ryan Woodall finished a strong second to Mizzoni and therefore became the series men’s champion.

Team Speedlab / Donnatella, aka – Super Fast Rubber Duckies performed well on the weekend and secured the team championship.

In the Gear Bicycle sales E MTB series race last year’s champ and current USA Cycling national E MTB champ Nick Mackie took with win in the men’s while Nicole Jenison crossed the line first in the women’s E MTB class.

The FSC banquet was held later in the day and along with the class champions and awardees, there were special awards for the following:

Rider of the Year male: Ryan Woodall

Rider of the Year female: Patricia Doring

Best Supporting Cast: Z Boyz

ESPO (sportsmanship): Dick Macdonald

Most Improved female: Valentina Ferrer-Assad

Most Improved junior: Carter Dembowski

Most Improved rider: Martin Bucheli
