Florida Gravel Grinder series #3 – 3 Forks – Palm Bay, Fl
First day of May and we could not have asked for better race conditions for the third round of the FGG, temps in the 80’s, course was smooth, fast and very little wind (at a location that is notorious for wind). A different layout this year saw the racers heading south for 15 miles, turning around and then going back north for a total of 30 miles each leg. The sprint distance racers completed one leg and the marathon distance was of course 2 legs of same. Speaking of weather, it did wait to rain till the awards ceremony and two racers did get caught in the downpour but overall we were lucky.
Ryan Woodall emerged as the winner in a closely fought open marathon division while Valerie Rozzo claimed the women’s top class in an equally tough fight. The MUMU leaders jersey remains on Ryan Woodall’s shoulders while there is a new leader in the women’s overall group with Lauren Zhadanovskiy claiming the cloth going into the final in Bryceville. Many thanks to all of the riders, volunteers and sponsors that have made the series possible, one more round to go!
