Georgia State Championship series #1 + TT – Hard Labor Creek State park – Social Circle, Ga
Some great racing weather to start of the new season even with the heavy rains that fell Friday the course shaped up nicely and the new creek crossing was much improved thanks to the volunteers (the Friends of Hard Labor Creek). The turnout was considerably up this year with lots of new faces in the junior ranks especially and the 7 mile course was challenging as always and has one of the best runs up to the finish on the circuit with a half mile uphill approach.
Saturday the series Time Trial bonus started at 3pm and Woodson Terry claimed the top honors for the men while Tina Morris was the fastest of the women’s field. On Sunday the cross country begain with cool temperatures but warmed up fast. Tallon Flynn took the top men’s category with an average speed just shy of 14mph. Avah Cherry topped the women’s cat 1 class with time to spare. Many thanks to all of the series sponsors and to all that attended, next GSC race is April 10th at Conyers, it should be a good one!
