Hauling in the Hammock FLE#4

Florida Endurance series #4 + TT#2 – Hammock Hauler – Alachua, Fl

Got lucky with the weather again as it was cool but not cold and just enough rain to make both days of racing near perfection at San Felasco trails. On Saturday the final Time Trial of the series was held at 3pm with temperatures in the upper 70’s and it was Alberto Maracano that set the fast lap at 38:13 on the 10.45 mile course while Nicole Blessing set the fastest of the women’s time. Then at around 7pm there was a cold front that blew in and put down just enough water to make Sunday’s course even better.

The Friends of San Felasco trail crew worked the event as always which meant they had the course ready and also had the course marshaling covered during the race, many thanks! Sunday the riders were presented a crisp sunny day and a super fast race surface that had everyone talking about how perfect the traction and conditions were. The men’s open marathon class saw a lot of heavy hitters and an absolute barn burner of a race that had laps that dipped into the 37 minute range which is record setting territory for this race loop. It was Matt Dockins that came out on top in the men’s long distance race (62.7 miles) for an average speed of 16.5 mph (and the fastest lap of the weekend at 37:14). Stacy Addicott took home the women’s marathon class win. In the Sprint distance top male rider was the previous days TT winner Alberto Maracano while Pauline Dockins put together the three fastest laps of the women’s sprint class to claim the win.

The FLE leaders jersey wearers are Dianna Bridges  and the new men’s leader is Mark Delibertis going into round five in Hialeah this weekend.
