Florida Endurance series #2 + Time Trial – Markham Woods – Lake Mary, Fl

Amazing weather to kick off the month of February with overcast and temperatures in the 70’s round two was held at the popular Markham Woods trail system just North of Orlando. A busy but flowing trail was set up by the SORBA Orlando trail crew and this time it measured 7.5 miles per loop meaning four laps for the sprint racers and eight laps for the marathon folks.

Saturday the series time trial was a one rider against one lap of the course affair and it was Bob McCarty that emerged on top with a 16.5 mph average and a time of 27:20 while Annelly Oviedo turned a very respectable 30:57 to win the women’s TT overall.

Sunday the long distance racers hit the trails first with a half mile sprint on double track before turning into the single track with the shorter distance racers going ten minutes later in the same fashion. Matt Dockins came away with the overall win with a 16.4 mph average over the sixty miles and Annelly Oviedo claimed the women’s overall with a time of 4:26:28. The prizes were handled by Retro City Cycles serving Orlando with two locations. Many thanks to all of the sponsors and to club SORBA Orlando for making the event a success!

Next race is 2-9 in North Miami for the fifth round of the Coconut Cup and next FLE race is the 12 Hours of Santos in Ocala on 2-15.
