Florida Endurance series #3 – Markham Masher – Markham Woods trails – Lake Mary, Fl
The weather forecasters seemed to want to throw shadows on outdoor events this past weekend by calling for the lot’s of the wet stuff but all we saw were shadows making for a nice conditions for the third round of the series. The SORBA Orlando crew were outstanding hosts again as they put together a 9.8 mile loop which ran backwards from prior years and featured a lot of flow for the racers.
The series Time Trial was ran Saturday and was ran on a shorter 6.7 mile loop and it was Carlos Pacheco throwing down a 24:52 min run with an average of 16.2 mph. Dianna Bridges rode her way to the top of the box in the Women’s TT and is steadily padding her points lead with valuable sprint series points.
Sunday the riders hit the trail at 9am and the Men’s marathon (6 laps) open class lead soon developed into a two man battle between Braxton Meloon and Carlos Pacheco and while Braxton lead most of the race it was mr. Pacheco who pushed late in the race and claimed the win. Maria Ledesma was the Women’s marathon winner.
In the Sprint classes (3 laps) Adrian Karras came away the overall winner in the Men’s while Brooke Foster took the Women’s sprint win. There were also some special Junior classes added for the weekend and in the under 13 age group (1 lap) it was Cora Czarny in first place and in the under 19 age group (2 laps) Emma Kotal was declared the winner, congrats to all!
Many thanks to all of the sponsors and especially Retro City Cycles that provided all the cool prizes for the weekend!
Next FLE event is March 22nd in Hialeah, Florida.
