Florida Gravel Grinder series #1 – Seminole Forest – Eustis, Fl
With rain in the forecast for most of the day, the conditions actually turned out pretty nice for the first round of the series, the rain stopped about an hour before the start and only rained again after the event was over and nice temperatures to boot but it did leave the riders looking a dirty after the first lap. Many thanks to SORBA Orlando for helping with the parking and to Jorge Feliciano for designing the course. Speaking of the course, it was 16.8 miles per loop which meant the sprint classes did two loops and the marathon did four laps in this scenic park.
Top overall marathon racer was Tres Riley with a 22 mph average and top female in the long distance division was Kelly Jones both are now the new series leaders and will don the MUMU cycling wear leaders jersey going into the next round. Next round is the first weekend of March in Dade City and it features a Time Trial on Saturday and regular gravel race the next day. Once again many thanks to all of the series sponsors, see you at the next one.
