Georgia State Championship series #2 – GIHP Trails – Conyers, Ga
It was shaping up to be a nice weekend weather wise, the famous Olympic mountain bike course had avoided the rains for the most part on Friday and Saturday but on Sunday just as the yellow wave was one lap into the trail the rain would not be denied. Although it didn’t rain that hard or long it did set the stage for the rest of the day which meant the racers would have to deal with a slick course. The seven mile loop has a bit of a roller coaster feel with lot’s of ups and downs plus there are two significant climbs that can make or break a good lap time.
There were some great battles in many of the classes and the men’s expert overall came down to less than a second after four laps and it was Daniel Albarracin getting the edge over Jeremy Brock, in the women’s it was Ryann Slechta claiming the top spot. After the riders had their fun on the slippery trail the sun came out just in time for the awards.
The next stop on the circuit is in Newnan on June 1st!
