Georgia State Championship series #3 – Yonah Mtn trails – Cleveland, Ga
Another picture perfect race weekend for the GSC season so far, this time up in the NE Georgia mountains (near the town of Apine themed Helen Ga, hence the yodeling reference) , this relatively new trail system is gaining a lot of praise from the racers as being one of the funnest on the circuit. This year the distance per lap was trimmed down a bit to an even 7 miles but still featured lot’s of the good stuff including the technical 250 rocky section that had a number of riders taking a second look at before attempting. It also has nice way of starting and finishing on a downhill, pretty cool! Many thanks to the North East Georgia SORBA club that had the course and the race running smooth for the weekend!
Nick Mackie took the overall men’s race by less than a second while Hailey Nelson was the top female on the day. Next series race is this coming Sunday on May 5th in Talking Rock, Ga (another very cool trail BTW)!
