Florida State Championship series #3 + Coconut Cup #2 – Quiet Waters park – Deerfield Bch, Fl
New to the FSC circuit this year is the Quiet Waters trail system, it has been a part of the Coconut Cup series for some time but this year the riders from upstate got to see what this unique course is all about. The weather was clear and free from rain but the heat and humidity keeps following the series so far and that would become a factor during the race for many.
The Quiet Waters trail club did an amazing job prepping the course and handled the marshaling chores as well, many thanks to the crew! The route this weekend had the racers doing 6.85 miles and with some average speeds in the 17 mph range, you would think the trail would be fast and easy right?! Well not so fast (so to speak), the course although quick is very challenging and technical and may be best described as a roller coaster ride, you really need to ride it to understand it.
Angel Rodriquez came out strong after his double win at the CC opener last week and claimed the men’s elite win and the same with Mayra Tomazoni as she took home the women’s top class (she also won both the ST and XC at Deerfield Beach last weekend). As for the Neutral Service leaders jersey’s they would stay on the shoulders of Ryan Woodall and Ariel Edens as they have been the most consistent so far in their respective classes.
Team “The Beast Battalion 2026” racked up some valuable points in the team championship and now leads by 15 points going into their home trail in Ocala.
Next event is this weekend at the Vortex trails in Ocala on 10-17/18 for the Team TT on Saturday and the XC on Sunday.
