Acworth GSC round up

Georgia State Championship series #4 – Allatoona Creek trails – Acworth, Ga Dodging wet weather has been a challenge this season and we almost got away with a dry one at Acworth, the Saturday short track was perfect and dry however overnight the rains fell and although Sunday was Sunny the course was destined to be on the wet side. The 6 mile course contains a lot of turns, rocks and roots with some rolling climbs and descents and overall the trail was in good shape but the slick roots and some muddy spots keep the riders attention throughout the […]

Crush’n it at Croom

Florida Endurance series #7 –Croom Crusher – Brooksville, Fl Got pretty lucky overall with the weather as some much needed rain fell Friday night on a course that is notorious for sand but with the help of the Brooksville/Croom trail maintenance group a new layout this year helped immensely as not only was much of the sand avoided but the flow was better as well. The 27.3 mile course also took in a little more technical trail just to spice things up. Not saying it was easy as the temp’s were in the 90’s but the humidity was relatively low

Yodeling at Yonah

Georgia State Championship series #3 – Yonah Mtn trails – Cleveland, Ga Another picture perfect race weekend for the GSC season so far, this time up in the NE Georgia mountains (near the town of Apine themed Helen Ga, hence the yodeling reference) , this relatively new trail system is gaining a lot of praise from the racers as being one of the funnest on the circuit. This year the distance per lap was trimmed down a bit to an even 7 miles but still featured lot’s of the good stuff including the technical 250 rocky section that had a

Fast times at the Hammer Head

Florida Endurance series #6 – Hammer Head – Ocala, Fl The weather turned near perfect on Sunday after a pretty hot Saturday pre ride day but the trail was on the dry side so some sand and dry leaves meant the racers had to stay on their toes during the race. The 25 mile loop starts at the landbridge trailhead and heads west taking on a variety of challenging terrain that then returns back to the landbridge for a fast run to the finish. This year a new category was added as the E MTB class one bikes took to

GSC#2 poach’n in Alabama

Georgia State Championship series #2 – McClellan trails – Anniston, Al GSC round two was held in the beautiful mountains surrounding Anniston Alabama (yes we are aware that it was not in Georgia but it is pretty close) on an awesome weather and race day. This trail is located on the McClellan military base and features lot’s of fast and fun filled trail, even though there is plenty of climbing the ripping downhills can make it seem like it downhill all the way. Nicholas Van Winkle turned the fastest laps of the men and covered 25 miles in 1:39:20 and

Coconut Cup wrap at Quiet Waters

Coconut Cup series #7 – Quiet Waters Park – Deerfield Bch, Fl Amazing weather weekend in South Florida again, the area got a much needed mild spell before the real summer heat comes and the racers certainly appreciated it at this fun and rapidly evolving course. What I mean by evolving is that since we only come once a year it has been noticeable how much the course has improved each time. The Quiet Waters trail crew has done a great job building and maintaining the system and with each vist it gets more features and more flow. The 6.7

Florida Gravel Grinder series #4 – Jennings Forest Grinder – Middleburg, Fl After weeks and months of unusually wet weekends in the area the weather gods finally looked down favorably on the final round of the Florida Gravel series and produced flawless conditions with sunshine and mild temperatures. The course
