Schanze & Sullian duke out in seminole

Florida Gravel Grinder series #3 – Seminole Forest – Eustis, Fl All the stars lined up for round three of the FGG series as the weather was amazing, the roads were smooth and this year the water crossings were dry. The forest service put down a heavy layer of limestone and paved it smooth just weeks before the event so it was in stark contrast to the last few years where watching for potholes and diving through water crossings were part of the game. The average speeds reflected the changes as most improved by a couple mph over the 2024

12 Hours of santos wrap up

Florida Endurance series #3 – 12 hours of Santos – Vortex trails – Ocala, Fl We could not have asked for better weather for the annual 12 hour race at the Vortex. Last year the race had to be cut short due to rain (and it was a bit cold as well), this year it was just picture perfect all day and night. It was a little longer course this year as well measuring nine miles per lap (not counting the first half loop to spread the riders out). Many thanks to all of the sponsors and thanks to club

Coconut Cup fun in the sun

Coconut Cup series #5 – Oleta River State Park – N. Miami, Fl Was a warm one but not too hot, the sun was shining and trails were demanding as always at Oleta. The Oleta Trailblazers had the trails trimmed back nicely and with a new variation of trails for the racers the 6.75 mile was a challenge to all levels. Angel Rodriguez claimed his third win in a row after a tough battle with his competitors and one particular tree and Patricia Doring also started a streak of her own with two straight in the women’s expert class. Florida Endurance series #2 + Time Trial – Markham Woods – Lake Mary, Fl Amazing weather to kick off the month of February with overcast and temperatures in the 70’s round two was held at the popular Markham Woods trail system just North of Orlando. Long and windy road

Florida Gravel Grinder series #2 – 3 Forks Rec area – Palm Bay, Fl When a weather forecast is made it is important to look at the details, if you just glance at the headlines for Sundays Central Florida weather there were terms like “washout”, “all day rain” and 95% chance of rain. But a closer look revealed a low chance of rain until the afternoon at the race site and in fact it did not rain until after 2pm at the race site well past the end of the event. What was very true was that the area was

Chilly willy @ Gravel opener

Florida Gravel Grinder series #1 + Time Trial – Cary Forest Grind – Bryceville, Fl A wee bit chilly it was! Saturday’s time trial was not too bad with temperatures in the forties and near fifty but Sunday with temps in the twenties overnight and still freezing by race start, yeah it was down right during most of the race. The sun did come out however and we managed to high a balmy 50 degrees by awards time. The SORBA Jax clubonce again helped out immensely,  and Champion Cycling was also on hand as the round sponsor and they handed

El Lagarto kicks off FLE opener

Florida Endurance series #1 + Short Track – El Lagarto – Loyce Harpe park – Lakeland, Fl This was the race that almost didn’t happen, we have been crossing our fingers for months now hoping that our scheduled date was going to happen due to the hurricane and the resulting FEMA clean up efforts at the park but we had received word in December that the park would be open just in time for the race. So on Saturday as the trails opened for the first time in months we held the series short track at 3pm on that same
