Florida Gravel Grinder series #4 – Cary Forest Grind – Bryceville, Fl
The second annual Florida Gravel Grinder series wrapped up at a new venue near Jacksonville and although it was a hot one and tough one (even without elevation) it was well received. The 14.7 mile loop set up by the SORBA Jacksonville club had a one mile sand section thrown that played an important role in many of the finishes with some racers just rolling through and some struggling. The race was co hosted by Sorba Jax and they played an important part with volunteers and keeping the riders safe throughout the day. There was also a hefty $750 purse to boot for this round thanks to Dreamfindershomes.com.
Top racers on the day were also the champions of their respective classes as Ryan Woodall took home the title, the cash and win on the day in the men’s marathon class while averaging 20.5 mph. Valerie Rosso did the same in the women’s marathon class by taking the win, her share of the purse and the champions jersey. Congrats to all of winners and thanks to all of the racers that came out and also many thanks to all of the series sponsors!
