Florida Gravel Grinder series #4 – Seminole State Forest – Eustis, Fl
Round number four of the Scarbourgh Bicycle Accident Law Florida State Championship Gravel Grinder series presented by Trek Land o’ Lakes series was held just North of Orlando in the Seminole Forest, the layout is best described as a lollypop system, with two loops and middle connector, the roads were in great shape with some newly graded limestone and much of the course features tree cover with a moderate amount of climbing. A full lap measured 16.85 miles and the peloton held together for the most part with high average speeds.
Jos Chalmers continued his winning ways in the marathon open class logging his 3rd in a row with an impressive sprint at the end his time was 2:51:47 covering 67.4 miles with an average speed of 23.5 mph (BTW the top 17 all had over a 23 mph average which included Meggie Scheinder also claimed her 3rd win of the series in the women’s open class which lead to receiving her first Fields Auto Group leaders jersey of the series. Otaner Ojeda remained in the men’s Fields Auto Group leaders jersey position with currently a 19 point lead. Sprint overall winner was Zach Osborne with a time of 1:28:55 for 33.7 miles and Phoebe Maisto took the women’s sprint top spot.
