Georgia State Championship series #6 – Georgia International Horse Park trails – Conyers, Ga Sweat shirt weather in the morning and t shirts in the afternoon, absolutely stellar conditions at the sixth round of the series at the famous Conyers course which was home to the first ever 1996 Olympic Games mountain bike event. Georgia State Championship series #5 + Short Track – Allatoona Creek trails – Acworth, Ga Normally this round is met with heat and humidity but this year we had very mild conditions, overcast and perfect trail traction. The weekend started off with a bonus short track on Saturday ran on the same 1.5 mile loop as the kids would race the next day and was a mix of open fields and some tight single track, while Sunday’s XC race was a six mile lap that had some mild climbing and lot’s of turns, finishing with a sprint to the line.

Florida Endurance series #6 – Croom Crusher – Brooksville, Fl The inaugural Gone Riding race at Croom was a tough but fun one. In normal conditions the 28.8 mile course would have been a challenge but with the lack of rain recently the pain meter was turned up a few notches as some of the climbs were a bit sandier than normal which slowed the pace and amped up the effort needed to go fast. But fast they did go as Matt Dockins took a hard earned win over last year’s champ Bob McCarty with a blistering pace of 16mph

Georgia State Championship series #4 – Talking Rock trails – Talking Rock, Ga Absolutely beautiful weather for the first race ever at this awesome location, the trails brought out a lot of grins from the racers as the 7.5 mile loop had a little bit of everything needed for a great XC race, fast flowing trails, raging downhill’s, tempered climbs and a fast run to the finish. Georgia State Championship series #3 – Ft Yargo trails – Winder, Ga Well the rain finally caught up with the series at Winder the morning of the race although it did stop raining shortly after the start. Some mod’s were made to the course (cutting out monster mile) and some laps were cut (cat 2 to one lap) but overall although it was wet, it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. Georgia State Championship series #2 – Yonah trails – Cleveland, Ga Fun, was the key word for new trail system located in the Northern Georgia. This would be the first ever race held on the property and the conditions could not have been better, a Friday night rain to insure the traction was just right, a mild and sunny weekend and lot’s of great racers to break it all in. Florida Endurance series #5 – Hammer Head – Landbridge Trailhead – Ocala, Fl Springtime in Central Florida can mean any kind of weather, we were threatened with wet weather during the week but it never happened, then we started the race day with overcast mild temperatures and it evolved into a pretty warm sunny day by the end, did I mention it was a wee bit sandy, yes it was. Florida Endurance series #4 – Hialeah Hustle – Amelia Earhart Trails – Hialeah, Fl A nice breeze, sunshine and warm weather, sounds like a vacation right that is unless you were hammering out fast hard laps at Amelia. The Amelia Trail Builders club had a punchy 6.1 miles of course set up for the race with the sprint classes scheduled for 5 laps and the marathon’s taking on 10 laps. Coconut Cup #8 –Quiet Waters Park – Deerfield Beach, Fl A fine way to wrap up the 22-23 Coconut Cup series, the weather was awesome the trail was challenging and the racing was close. The Quiet Waters trail has been through a lot, including a hurricane that leveled all or most of the trees, and then a pipeline construction project that ripped up the newly rebuilt trail system and now it is under threat again with a highway project but each time it seems to come back.  I cannot thank the Quiet Waters Trail Builders enough for their efforts, they
