Sunshine in Sunrise

Florida State Championship series #3 + Coconut Cup #2 + EMTB – Markham park – Sunrise, FlIt has been a very rainy season in South Florida but thankfully it stumbled to a stop just in time for the combined FSC / CC race at Markham park. The Markham park trail crew had set up a “wet course” just in case but as it turned out a small dry cool front rolled in and the conditions were pretty close to perfect. Racing at Markham park is always competitive but when you add the top riders from both the state series and […]

Coconut Cup Dyer Flyer

Coconut Cup series #1 + ST – Dyer Park – West Palm Beach, Fl After a string of wet events at Dyer park it was great to have a dry (or not at least not wet) race. There were threats of rain all weekend and even a few sprinkles now and then but Mother Nature apparently was just playing with us, the conditions were actually great, even the temperatures were nice hovering in the mid 80’s. Speaking of the conditions, the trail was laid out in perhaps the longest and most interesting version to date with a 6.8 mile loop

Beach bike bingo

Florida State Championship series #2 – Hanna Park Trails – Jacksonville, Fl The second stop on the FSC ’25 tour was in Jacksonville at the popular seaside Hanna park, the heat rolled back in this weekend along with the humidity which is kind of fitting for this jungle like trail system. The trails feature lot’s of twists and turns and is know as a rider’s course vs a power course. The surface was a bit on the dry side but other than that the SORBA Jax club had everything in great shape, they also marshaled the event, many thanks to

FSC kick off in tally

Florida State Championship series #1 + TT – Tom Brown Trails – Tallahassee, Fl Wow what a change in the weather, it has been a long hot muggy summer and then all of the sudden a cool snap rolled in and along with low humidity it had everyone grinning, especially the competitors. The trails were in awesome shape as well thanks to club TMBA (Tallahassee Mountain Bike Association) and the city of Tallahassee, many thanks! The series kicked off Saturday at 3pm with the annual Time Trial, a one lap rider vs the clock affair that saw Reed Legg take

GSC wrap up at Chattanooga

Georgia State Championship series #4 – Enterprise South Trails – Chattanooga, Tn After weeks of on and off again rains the weekend forecast in Chattanooga finally looked dry and sunny and just in time for the final round of the series. The break in the weather also gave SORBA Chattanooga club a chance to do some much needed trail maintenance which created a super smooth and fast course for the GSC racers, many thanks Sorba Chatt! This layout is a bit on the long side with 8 mile laps but the pace is fast and although there is plenty of

water world

Georgia State Championship series TT#2 – Dauset Trails – Jackson, Ga Tough stop on the GSC circuit weather wise, there was a 50% chance of rain over the weekend and that proved to be a bit of a conservative prediction. The area had been getting lots of rain recently but we were hopefull it would let up enough for us to get the fourth round and the second time trial off without too much disruption. Saturday’s TT was held on time but was still wet in many areas due to overnight rains however Sunday’s race had to be canceled as

Battle at brown’s mill

Georgia State Championship series #3 – Brown’s Mill Battlefield park – Newnan, Ga Dodged another close one on the weather as rains came on Friday but stopped in time for the trails to dry out for the weekends race and produced a near perfect trail for the racers and mild temperatures and sunshine to boot! The 6.25 mile course layout was modified slightly from last years race mainly due to the new start / finish location which produced some blazing fast times. The new layout lent itself to some close racing with about a quarter mile run up to the

sliding around conyers

Georgia State Championship series #2 – GIHP Trails – Conyers, Ga It was shaping up to be a nice weekend weather wise, the famous Olympic mountain bike course had avoided the rains for the most part on Friday and Saturday but on Sunday just as the yellow wave was one lap into the trail the rain would not be denied. Although it didn’t rain that hard or long it did set the stage for the rest of the day which meant the racers would have to deal with a slick course. The seven mile loop has a bit of a

Crush’n it at croom

Florida Endurance series #7 – Croom trails – Brooksville, Fl It is not often we hope for rain right before a race weekend but at this course rain is a blessing most of the time. Central Florida has been in a drought as of late and although we did get the needed wet stuff it was a bit close for comfort as the rain did fall but only stopped right before the 9am start. This year the course was trimmed down to a 14.5 mile loop to help with some of the sand sections and was amazingly fast with a
