Dueling at dyer

Florida State Championship series #6 / Coconut Cup series #2 – Dyer park Trails – West Palm Bch, Fl In a whirlwind move the original location of the sixth round of the FSC was moved from Lakeland to WPB due to hurricane Ian and with quick work, hustle and good luck the move was made in record time and set up a chance to add another round to the Coconut Cup series (presented by Floridabikecrashlaw.com) as well at this very demanding South Florida trail system. We can’t thank club Force and Palm Beach County enough for pulling it off. If […]

San Felasco round up

Florida State Championship series #5 – San Felasco Trails – Alachua, Fl More nice fall weather was upon central Florida this past weekend for round five of the series, the trail could have used rain but overall can’t complain about the conditions as they were fast and flowing which was a bit of a contrast to last week’s techie Vortex trails. Many thanks to the Friends of San Felasco for prepping the trails and working the event! Close racing was the order of the day with many class win’s decided by split seconds, this included the men’s elite class with

Spinning around the Vortex

Florida State Championship series #4 – Vortex Trails – Ocala, Fl The crispness of fall weather is upon the FSC series, arriving just at the halfway point in Ocala, it was sweatshirts in the morning and t-shirts in the afternoon and perfect weather for the fourth round of the series. The trail layout was in some ways similar to the annual 12 hours of Santos but a little shorter and with some different twists that had even some of the locals scratching their heads. It was also a bit on the long side at 7.5 miles and was filled with

Match up at markham

Florida State Championship series #3 / Coconut Cup #1 – Markham park – Sunrise, Fl Markham park in the fall, always a great time of year to ride a bike and to have the FSC and CC series face off head to head for some of the most competitive bike competition in the state. The Markham park trail crew worked up a 6.3 mile course for this round and with just the right amount of rain on Saturday night the kids races and the yellow first wave were in prime shape, the 11:30 white wave however was another story as

Battle at the beach

Florida State Championship series #2 – Hanna park – Jacksonville, Fl Rain, rain went-away, in a favorable turn of what looked like a very wet day (the local weather forecast was for rain on and off all day), the sun came out and the racers were greeted with a very nice race course with only a few puddles to navigate. The SORBA JAX club once again provided a bunch of great volunteers to help with parking and trail duties, many thanks! A good turnout for the Shimano Youth / kids race which features a one mile long lap that jaunts

FSC tallahassee kick off

Florida State Championship series #1 + TT + E MTB #1 – Tom Brown park – Tallahassee, Fl It seemed like everyone was bracing for a wet start to the season but that was not the case as the opening round of the FSC dodged the nasty clouds and the trails were in great shape for the racers. Many thanks to TMBA (Tallahassee area Mountain Bike Association) for prepping the trails and for cheering on the racers during the event, it is always a treat to come up and race in Tally. Saturday was the traditional series time trial bonus

FLE final at Haile

Florida Endurance series #7 – Haile’s Trails – Newberry, Fl What was feared to be a washout weekend turned out pretty nice with the rains holding off on Saturday making the Sunday course near perfect for the final FLE race of the ’22 season. It was warm, maybe a little hot but not the normal sweltering heat for the middle of June in Florida, so all in all good conditions for the race. The course was one of the shortest on the season at just a little over 5 miles per lap but this place always packs a punch with

Stairway to Helen

Georgia State Championship series #7 – Unicoi State Park – Helen, Ga Perfect is one way to describe the weather and conditions at the series final at Unicoi state park this past weekend. This former NORBA national course is notorious for tough climbing and for the wet stuff and well the climbs are still there but at least it was dry and nearly zero humidity, just an awesome way to finish off the GSC. Did we mention this course is tough, 6.7 miles, a creek crossing, lot’s of steep climbs and one climb in particular called three sisters will absolutely

GSC rolls on at Chattanooga

Georgia State Championship series #6 – Enterprise South Nature Park – Chattanooga, Tn Another awesome weather day in the South as high 80’s and low humidity and super fun course greeted the GSC racers in Chattanooga for the second to last round of the series. There were lots of new faces at this one as riders from the surrounding area stepped in to make the racing a little more spicy for the series veterans. We would like to thank the SORBA Chattanooga club for all of their outstanding work on the area trails as well and this was in super
